My name is Roya Bayat-Makoui and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with an MBA degree. The majority of my psychotherapy experience has been at a trauma center with clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds. I also have years of experience with the forensic population in group and individual therapy settings using eclectic approaches to address PTSD, depression, anxiety, situational stress, loss and grief, and work and family difficulties. My approach My approach to therapy is eclectic as everyone is different and their needs vary. Depending on the age and situation of my client, I mainly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic, Psychoanalysis, and Humanistic approaches. My focus My clients age from five to seventy-five with different backgrounds and I find it easy to connect with them. I especially enjoy working with couples and families to improve daily interactions. The majority of my experience has been with PTSD, depression, anxiety, situational stress, loss and grief, and work and family difficulties. My communication style I believe in providing a safe, compassionate, and free-of-judgment environment for my clients. I naturally have a calm demeanor and soft tone, which helps in this process. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been fascinated by people and different cultures. I believe in humanity and being a therapist has given me the opportunity to help people so they can live a meaningful life they deserve. My goals for you As far as goal setting, I explain to my clients how therapy sessions are theirs and I am walking alongside them with a flashlight, without crossing their path. It is important for them to know that they are not alone on this journey, but it is their path to experience and evolve. My first session with you The first session is about having a dialogue and making a connection by getting to know each other. It is essential for the client to feel comfortable.
